Al-Khalaf and Abdul Aziz Al-Anzi | Abstract : Al Qurayyat City, Al Jouf Region, KSA relies merely on groundwater wells (TDS
= 1157–1680 ppm) in Ain Al Bayada, Tabarjal and Busaita, 40, 140 and 180 km southern Al Qurayyat, respectively. Al Qurayyat has only one desalination plant that was constructed in 1985. The productivity of the plant is 150,000 3 m /month; depending on the number of work hours. The high quality water is free of bacteria. The criteria of water (expressed in mg/l) are: total dissolved solids (307.40), total hardness (82.60), total alkalinity (60.60), calcium (52.00), magnesium (30.60), silica (1.72), fluoride (0.40), sulfate (39.60). The pH value is 7.28, turbidity is 0.22 NTU, and electrical conductivity is 611.46 μ/cm. There is a daily and periodic testing of the raw and desalinated water and a
periodic maintenance of the machines. There is also only one wastewater 3 treatment plant (daily productivity= 7,500 m /day). The wastewater is dumped at the boundaries of the city. | | | Author Profile | Full-Text PDF |View Video | |
