196 EFFECT OF SEED-BORNE FUNGI ON PROTEIN CONTENT IN THE SEEDS OF GREEN GRAM [VIGNA RADIATA (L.) WILCZEK] DURING STORAGE

Abstract : The present study was conducted to isolate seed mycoflora and assess the changes in protein content in green gram seeds collected from different market places of Karimnagar and Ranga Reddy districts of Telangana state, India during the storage. The protein content was observed to decrease in stored samples compared to post-harvest samples. The protein content was observed to be in decreasing trend with increase in storage period in the seeds of Karimnagar samples ranging from 130 to 182mg/g seed and RangaReddy district from 124 to 164 mg/g seed during storage and post-harvest respectively.
