Penchalamma , Jacob Doss P. | Abstract : Dimethoate (DIM) is an organophosphorothionate (OPT) pesticide used worldwide as a systemic insecticide and acaricide. It is characterized by low-tomoderate acute mammalian toxicity; similarly to the other OPT pesticides, its
mode of action is mediated by the inhibition of acetyl cholinesterase (AChE).
Dimethoate is a racemic organophosphorus insecticide. It is applied as spray in agriculture, horticulture and viticulture for control of insects on a variety of
field, fruit and vegetable crops. The aim of the present work was to study biochemical changes that might occur in the kidney of albino rat as a result of dimethoate intoxication. The kidney, the major detoxification organ for many xenobiotics, is frequently susceptible to the nephrotoxic effects of the pesticide. | | | Author Profile | Full-Text PDF |View Video | |
