Flower and Fruit extracts | By : N. Yasodamma, B. Kavitha and C. Alekhya | Abstract : Pterolobium hexapetalum is one of the important herbal medicine against diarrhea, ulcer, jaundice, skin disorders, constipation, piles and venereal diseases. Also possess high quantities of phytoconstituents in leaf and stem bark extracts like alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, glycosides, tannins, quinones and steroids. The herbal drug showed effective antibacterial activity of aqueous and methanol extracts at 10 mg/well ranging 0.312- 0.625 mg of MIC values. And antifungal activity with aqueous, methanol, benzene and alcohol extracts of leaf, stem bark, flower and fruit at 10mg/well proved effective between 11.75-36 mm diameter zone of inhibition on both organisms ranging between 0.156-0.625 mg Minimum Inhibitory Concentration. P.hexapetalum extracts also proved as effective antioxidants, antidiarrhoeal and antiulcerous herbal drug through in-vitro and in-vivo studies. Hence preliminary screening and antibacterial activity of flower and fruit extracts were tested in support of its herbal uses reveals the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, glycosides, lignins, tannins, quinones, saponins and steroids. | | | Author Profile | Full-Text PDF |View Video | |
